Pricing & Payment

Please Note - due to being a new Daddy I am unable to take any orders for the foreseeable future, perhaps I'll get back to it in 18 years or so from now.

"Let us quote you poor..."

You may notice that there is no 'budget line' in our prices. Redfox is about high quality for a reasonable price because of the amount of time dedicated to each and every model, from your mantlepiece general to your lowliest rifleman. If you want a cheap economy service you need to look elsewhere.

The price list has been compiled for your convenience and is in no way exhaustive. It should be used as a guideline and confirmed with us before you send any payment. Accepted payment methods are cheque (payable to P. Cubbin) or Paypal. If you send cash you do so at your own risk and it will doubtless be used to pay for a takeaway or for us to roll around in. The price list may be changed without warning if the bailiffs turn up or we decide we want the front door gold-plated so please look at the current list before planning anything. Keep checking back with the website as we plan to add some new stuff as and when we are able.

To use the list you will need to know how we define some of the categories-

Scale - this is measured from the base to the shoulder and is rarely accurate even between models from the same manufacturer. We use common sense with this, for example a standard Games Workshop model we count as 25mm to 30mm. When in doubt, check with us.

Infantry / Foot models - this is a model on foot. Easy, eh? A human or humanoid model of normal-ish size fits in this category (rank and file fantasy Orcs do, Ogres don't). Models with large amounts of detail required (ie. complex body tattoos, decoration or extremely intricate uniforms such as some Napoleonic Hussars) may incur an extra fee to cover the additonal time required.

Cavalry / Mounted models - this is a model on a mount (usually a horse) and the rider plus mount count as a single model. Again, standard sizes are assumed (an elephant, wooly rhino or dinosaur is just taking the Mick and they do not count) so anything outside the norm needs to be quoted separately.  Models with large amounts of detail required (ie. complex body tattos, decoration or extremely intricate uniforms such as some Napoleonic Hussars) may incur an extra fee to cover the additional time required. Large fantasy models such as Giants, Dragons, Ogres or Trolls will be priced on an individual basis.

Unit - this applies to the cost of 'standard' miniatures and describes troops or models that are grouped together with similar uniforms or colour schemes in a, yup, unit. The standard price reflects the efficiency of 'batch' painting and this section does not cover a bunch of characters pretending to be in a unit, oh no.

Flag or Standard Bearer - really, this is getting tedious. This applies to a model that is carrying...yeh, you guessed.

Character, liveried knight or single display model - we all want centrepieces to our army and this section covers them. These fellas (or lasses) get the A1 paintjob, soothing words and just that little bit of extra care and attention. This would include any model that needs to be facially accurate (ie. actual historical or movie characters) and really requires that extra bit of time and TLC. Liveried knights (ie. those with coats of arms displayed across their armour, clothing or horse barding) are also included here as they are similarly time consuming and need extra attention. This assumes a standard sized, detailed base for the model; any specialised display or gaming bases will need to be quoted for separately.

Big stuff and miscellaneous

Paint Removal - 50p per model (horse and rider count as single model); do I really need to say that this is only for metal models?

Basing - individual unit models will be based free of charge on pennies or plasticard (to reasonable dimensions of your choice) where the figure does not already include a base. You are entirely welcome to send washers, coins etc. if you have a preference for a different kind of base and your models can be based on these instead. Any larger multi-bases or scenic displays will be priced separately depending on size and how ambitious they are.

Larger gaming or display pieces, terrain, vehicles, special commissions and scratch built things would be impossible to write a list for so we haven't bothered. We are more than happy to take on the less usual jobs (they are a break from the tedium of 22 hour days with 2 hours enforced overtime) and will quote them on an individual basis. If we need to use large amounts of materials then the cost of these will be added, but a blob of modelling putty or a short length of balsa is too petty for us to bother with. Things covered in this category will usually require payment in advance.

Post and Packing

We only use 1st Class Recorded post or Special Delivery in the UK, please add 10% to cover postage costs.

For outside the UK an equivalent trackable postal service is used, please add 25% to cover postage costs.

Any orders over £150 will be UK post-free, any orders over £250 are post free outside the UK.

Placing an Order

Ah, the nitty-gritty or, as we like to call it, how do you give us your money? You need to send your email (details in 'Contact Us') with the subject title 'REDFOX STUDIOS' in the 'subject' box and a description of your order, we will then reply as soon as possible. When we have calculated your order we will send you a quotation, an order number and an approximate time of completion. Minimum order is £50 before postage costs.

Important - your order is only confirmed when we receive your models or a deposit/full payment in advance. This prevents all other customers in the queue being delayed in the event of someone else having a problem.

You can either post your models to us or ask us to buy them for you (to save on postage costs) in which case we will obviously add them to your bill and require payment in advance. Some customers prefer to send payment by cheque with their models for convenience and to prevent delays caused by payment clearing; no customer's cheque is cashed before work starts on their project and they are informed beforehand to prevent nasty shocks to the bank balance. For standard orders, when done, we will email a photo of the completed models with an invoice (if you haven't already paid in advance); when payment clears the items will be posted to you. You need to make sure your payment clears no more than 30 days after you are invoiced or your models will be re-sold to cover our costs. If you can't guarantee you will be able to pay within this time DON'T ORDER!
